In 2007 Pastor Al Gaines and his wife Sandy joined a team going to the Casa Hogar Oasis De Los Ninos in Sabinas Hidalgo, Mexico. While they were there the Lord impressed on Pastor Al's heart the words of Jesus' half brother James: Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27. Sandy and Al have been given a great opportunity to live out this verse by serving some amazing kids! With help from a lot of amazing volunteers we can build a better place for the kids to live and show the Love of Jesus! As long as the Lord keeps providing team members, funds and supplies we will keep serving at the Casa! Will you join us?
My name is Bruce Ericson. I currently live in Dewey, AZ. I am married to Marcia and we have two children, Matt and Candace.
The reason I choose to support Casa Hogar Oasis is it provides a place that these children can be safe & learn of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What some have gone through in their short lives is heartbreaking.
To meet these kids is to love them, getting to know them after only a week is to love them more. All they want is to be loved on and that is the least I can do for them. To make the place they live better will also be better for them. I can’t do much, but what I do is for them and the Lord
Hi, my name is Denny Pausch and I live near Vergas, MN, with my wife Terry. I had heard of Casa Hogar Oasis De Los Ninos in Sabinas Hidalgo, Mexico for many years and finally had the chance to visit with Al on a summer trip. I went along to support Al and to work. We certainly did work, and felt very blessed to be able to help them with projects they would not have been able to do. The surprise for me was being able to build relationships with the kids so quickly, and then seeing the importance of those relationships. Because most of the kids have been discarded by their parents, the relationships they make with the team has a huge impact on them; we do become their family. It is very humbling when you understand the impact of spending a week building relationships with these great kids, and then the importance of seeing them again. By visiting and supporting them you have the opportunity to impact their lives forever. I have been in business my entire life and look forward to using anything I have learned to help “Kids at the Casa”.
My name is Richard Roesler (Rick) also known as “The Amazing Dr. Rick”. I live near Pelican Rapids, MN. I spent 40 years as a research chemist and have a love of learning and using my hands. Denny Pausch invited me to the Casa about eight years ago. I didn’t know what to expect except that the kids living there had either been abandoned or abused or were wards of the state. I found that they were starved for affection. Good for me because I am a hugger. When I went I knew little Spanish other than gracias and adios. I have been studying Spanish for the last eight years and can converse a little, enough to be dangerous. When the team visits the Casa we have a lot of work projects, e.g., replacing sewer pipes and light bulbs, running new electric lines and installing new plumbing. We spend as much time with the kids as possible: playing, teaching and worshipping, and sometimes, just sitting. I have become known as “The Amazing Dr. Rick” because I take down some science “magic” to entertain the kids. Unlike a lot of short term mission trips, we spend 24 hours a day in the Casa. We eat what they eat, sleep like they sleep and experience the same weather conditions (little to no heating or air conditioning). Because we return one or more times a year, we have built up fantastic relationships with the directors and staff and especially the kids.
